About Diane Dulken

Before setting roots in Portland, Oregon a decade ago, Diane lived in Washington D.C. for several years, working for two of the nation's leading conservation organizations - as a development writer for The Wilderness Society in a department that raised $6 million annually and then managing national press outreach for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Both organizations gave her a grounding in the top conservation and sustainability issues of our time.

Today she works collaboratively with business and non-profit clients to develop smart communications strategies. When needed, she calls upon the expertise of partners who work in the fields of graphic design, web development, internet strategy and other practice areas to serve client goals.

Earlier in her career, Diane was an award-winning journalist for The Oregonian and Albuquerque Journal. diane (20K) Her reporting took her to places as diverse as New Mexico crack houses and Costa Rican rainforests, where she wrote about emerging efforts in sustainable development.

In addition to her consulting work for businesses and organizations, Diane has worked as a staffmember for two Oregon non-profits. She managed communications, publications and sponsorships for the statewide Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and was the first director of Ecotrust's landmark Natural Capital Center, catapulting that green building to local and national acclaim and launching its popular conference center. Diane has served on the city's Sustainable Development Commission and holds a B.S. in natural resources from the University of Michigan.

She is an avid bicyclist and commutes almost everywhere by bike, even in the sloshy winters. Diane also rides horses, and has traveled by horseback in Montana, Costa Rica and on safari through Kenya's Maasai Mara.
